Power of Lightning for More than Flux Capacitors
That’s right, the 1.21 gigawatt’s that hit the clock tower in Back to the Future will do more than power the flux capacitor. It’s going to be channeled directly into your home.
An innovative way of generating and harvesting lightning has been proposed by Steve LeRoy in Illinois as the next move in environmentally friendly power.
In principal, a device creates small bolts of lightning in a controlled environment and then harvests the discharge produced. Think of a large Telsa coil with a giant transformer that conducts the excess energy into power.
A three foot spark will illuminate a standard light bulb for twenty minutes. LeRoy believes that he can power up to 3,000 homes for an entire day on just a single bolt of lightning!

thats a lot of electricity for just one hit of lightning. i wonder if there is stuff being setup to collect them now and where its at.

@sam nguyen, You’re right about that, it is a lot of electricity. I couldn’t find any evidence that there are lighting rods being setup in the field just yet, however there are some plans being submitted to the patent office. I’m sure we’ll see these go up somewhere thunder storms are common place, like the Midwest.

I have been playing red alert 2 computer game, and as a newbie, I can’t figure out why I always fail in my mission. When my opponent creates a storm, all my soldiers and dogs, plus my constructed barracks, shipyard, and other factories get wiped out. I have been figuring out why that happens. I think I found the answer. (LOL)

Update: I continue lightning experiments, also experimenting with self sustaining superconducting generator. This effort is very complex and will require time and funds to complete. Steve

@Steven LeRoy, thank you for stopping by and commenting. We are looking forward to the future applications of this technology – it’s an exiting and bold move to producing efficient and emission free electricity.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I am encouraged by the mostly positive comments on my energy research. To date, I am experimenting with both lightning and superconductors. To help out, please believe that as a species we can solve our problems and move up to the next level of being. Thanks for listening. Steven LeRoy

When a quartz crystal is oscillated trillions of times per second and struck with even a weak CO2 laser beam, it emits dozens of kilogauss of magnetic energy. The yield potential is unimaginable still. I’m trying to obtain a large enough pure quartz sample of proper dimensions to irradiate and collect EMF with an induction coil..no moving parts except at atomic level.
If it leads to anything, you will surely hear of it. I am remaining diversified and flexible with my research, all on a shoelace budget. Thanks, Steve
PS Couldn’t care less about profit..this is to help.

An unfortunate turn of events with a large energy corporation hiring big PR people to discredit my years of research. As a result I am withdrawing from the alternative energy field and have given away ALL my lab data and schematics to various engineers and firms.
If Alternate Energy Holdings wants to engage in a smear campaign they are only stifling meaningful achievements..but I’m not going to be involved in any controversy. Suffice it to say it is wrong to spend investors’ money on deliberately hiring out a negative PR campaign. My motive was never money. Steve
